Post 5 for the day - 2017 UFO list

Here is my list from 2016. Out of the 28 items on this list I got 5 done - items 3, 10, 23, 24, & 28 - got three items partially done - item 27, 5 quilts so far, 26, one quilt so far, and 18, one quilt. Item 11 I used some of the flannel for the backing for item 18 the one flannel quilt and item 21 I used the fabric pieces for making some of the 5 quilts in item 27 so that will come off the list altogether. My new list for 2017 follows this list.

1. Amish diamond 42" square I made this many years ago

2. Hand dyed striped quilt 74" x 85" When I was cleaning up on 1/4/2015 I found this quilt and had forgotten that I had not finished quilting all the black stripes.
3. Small quilt 42" w x 41" from the challenge earlier this year that didn't get picked Done Dec. 2016

4. Log Cabin quilt - this is the second large quilt I had pieced. I had started to hand quilt this and it kept getting pushed aside. After two moves and several home remodels, the quilt was filthy and back then I used the batting that was available - polyester. I took out the hand quilting, washed the top and back, and plan to machine quilt this. This is my oldest UFO - 30+ years - and yes, I am going to get 'er done!

5. Improv musical quilt - queen sized - I have started quilting this, but had to put is aside.

6. Log cabin hand dyed fabric - look at the date - 2010! I don't remember the challenge I made this for, but I am way pass the entry date for sure!

7. Black and white star top - queen sized
8. Blue and tan log cabin - this is partially hand quilted and has polyester batting. I am going to remove the hand quilting, replace the batting, and machine quilt.

9. Wedding ring quilt for a friend - needs some major TLC!

10. Tea towel quilt Done!
11. Hockey flannel quilt for my son 81" x 89"

12. Soccer boy 54 1/2 x 73" I may put a border on this one to make it a bit wider.

13. Maple leaf 78" x 102" the blocks were made by the late sister of a neighbor I had in Dover. I put together the top, because the neighbor does not sew.

14. Danks 90" x 99" this is a young fellow I work with. I made this as a housewarming gift. He and his long time girlfriend have been in their house for 3 years! Up date: they have now been in their house for 5 years and are now married! I need to get this done!

15. Red dog 54" x 65"

16. Red lips 30" x 43"

17. Art museum t-shirt piece. All I need to do is finish up the hand quilting with pearl cotton. This has been sitting around for at least 4 years.

18. Leftover flannel - see the dark green strips laying on top? I found those in my big clean up yesterday! I needed some more solid colored flannel so I am glad I found them!

19. Homespun - this is the remaining fabric from making 4 donation tops in 2014. This will be the end of the homespun in my stash.

20. wool quilt - this quilt was put on hold until my brother could get me the measurements he wanted the quilt to be to fit his bunk on the tour bus.

21. DP solid quilt

22. a pair of pj's that I need to alter for my girlfriend. They belonged to her late husband. He passed away 3 years ago Jan. 2. I need to get these done.

Post 4 - 1st finish for 2017

I had one more baby quilt top that was pin basted so I sat down on January 1st and got it done. It turned out 37" x 55" and has a fun black and white back made with two different fabrics.

I have not idea why I bought that striped fabric and it has sat in my stash a long time.

This will go into my stash of baby quilts.

Post 3 - One montly goal project

My goal was to work on baby quilts and get at least these two done.

I got both of them done!

Post 2 - 2016 Review - quilts, stash, and thread

I managed to make 24 quilts in 2016 varying from some cute dog quilts to queen sized quilts.

22. pink zig zag 42" x 54.5"

23. log cabin 37" x 47.5"

24. Orange log cabin 36.75" x 50.5"

With making these quilts I used 27,620 yards of quilting thread. I had bought 24,000 yards of thread in 2016 - mostly cones of black, gray, and navy for t-shirts quilt - but overall I am down 4,000 yards from what I started with in 2016.

I emptied 29 spools this year.

My fabric stash has also been reduced. I bought 23.75 yards in 2016 and used 98.25 for a reduction of 74.5 yards. I did not count the fronts of the t-shirt quilts as part of my stash. I straightened out my fabric storage room while I was off and have reconfirmed the fact that I don't need to add to my stash this year so I won't be buying anything unless I need something very specific.

Post 1 - 22nd, 23rd & 24th finishes for 2016

Time to catch up from being off. Here are three more baby quilts that I finished before year's end.

The pink zig zag is done! 42" x 54.5" The back was a linen looking soft gray fabric.
This quilt is 37" x 47.5" and will go into the stash of baby quilts. The backing was a subtle gray print.

This orange log cabin is 36.75" x 50.5" and I put an orange and green African Dutch Wax print on the back.

I also made three more pillowcases for gifts

a Christmas stocking

pie and oatmeal raisin cookies!

On New Year's Eve I worked the merchandise booth for my nephew. The audience was great and we sold lots of merchandise! He played the Civic Theater which is an old theater that has been renovated. Here are some shots of the lobby and one of the stage

I received one of Vicki's post cards! Here are all the cards I have received over the years. I have a lovely forest bordering the top of my design wall!
