More quilting

I was so tired when I got home from work I had to just sit awhile. I did finally get moving and finished quilting another baby quilt. I have the binding already cut so I will be able to finish the two pink step zig zag quilts quickly.

I finally managed to get the TV stand done. I put the handles on the drawers and pushed it into place. I may have to drill a hole in the bookcase to the left to plug the tv in and I might end up drilling a hole in the top of the TV stand to feed the cords thru, but I will wait until I am absolutely sure about how to hook everything up.

The new tv came last week. I got it with credit card points.

I dug out more baby quilt tops that need finished. I have five blue quilts and found some backing fabric I got a while ago for a great price. I think the fish fabric will look cute on the back of these boy quilts. Now I just need to find the fabric I set aside for the binding!

a busy five days

Wednesday I traveled to Lancaster, Ohio for a gig with the band. It was a beautiful place.

We weren't allowed to leave until the headliner, a Tom Petty tribute band, was done so we didn't get to our hotel in Columbus until midnight. On Thursday there were two 45 minute shows at the Ohio State Fair.

I got home about 11:30 p.m. and on Friday we had a show in Streetsboro opening up for a Kiss tribute band.

I did have a bit of time before we left for Streetsboro so I made some bags out of the leftover screening fabric that I am using for some equipment covers. The ones that are labeled New and Used are for the guitar picks we sell at the merch booth. We are always losing the little plastic bags so these should work better. The other bags I gave to my brother for stuff he keeps in the tech cabinet.

It was hard to squeeze in watching the TDF, but I managed to keep up with what was going on. Despite having a bad crash, my favorite rider Peter Segan, was able to finish the last three stages with the help of his teammates. Peter won the green jersey with 477 points. The next closest guy had about 170 points.

While I watched it on Sunday I machine quilted baby quilts that were already pin basted. Of the six girl quilts I had finished months ago, I only have one left so it was time to get more done. I got one completely quilted and a another one almost done.

Hand stitching

I was tired when I got home from work. I thought about going out and mowing, but thank goodness it rained. It got up to over 80 at work and that heat just sucks the life out of me. I did manage to get some stitching done on the JB quilt. I like the way this is looking.

I am going to be on vacation the rest of the week so I will catch up with you all on Monday.

What a weekend

I did get a bit of stitching done on the JB quilt. Once I get the backstitching done I will add some stitching to make it look like a blanket stitch. I like the Fuchsia color for the border of this t-shirt.

Then the rest of the day Sunday was watching the TDF, the Cleveland Indians and sewing together 14 tote bags to use at the merch booth.

I wish a bolt of that duck cloth would just magically appear at my front door so I could make more of these. We never seem to have enough bags for the customers. Since I take my own bags to the grocery store I don't have and those plastic bags to use. I went around the house and gathered up a bunch of extra cloth bags and used those this weekend. When someone buys and vinyl or a bunch of t-shirts, CD's and pics, it is nice to be able to have a bag if they need one.

Saturday we had two gigs - yes, two in the same day at different places locally. The first was just a half hour show at the Soap Box Derby.
Here is the track

For the kids that win their heat, they take the kids back up the hill in shuttle carts with a motorcycle escort. I have no idea how the get the cars back up the hill.

Here are some of the equipment covers being used.

We had to hurry and pack all our stuff up and head about 8 miles up the road to the next gig. It was getting hot, but we got the equipment unloaded in plenty of time and got the merch booth set up.

Here was my view from the booth

One of Michael's fans had a beverage in her hand and I asked he where she had gotten it. She said she would get me one as she had a couple extra drink tickets. I paid her gladly for a drink ticket and this hit the spot because it was so hot.

Michael wore the green jacket that I had added the yokes and sleeve decorations to. The fabric sparkled in the sun. It was a long day. We had left my brother's at 9 that morning and we got back about 8:30.

TGIF!!!!

It is 80 already in the space I work so I will be glad to get out of here at the end of the day. Last night I did make myself put together another equipment cover that I already had cut out. This cover is for this keyboard.

I added straps with Velcro so if the wind catches the cover underneath the straps will keep it from blowing off.

Tonight I need to try and get the covers for the speakers. I need to make two covers as there are two sets of these units.
I don't even have the fabric cut out. Yikes! Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, so I would like to have these made just in case. I need to make the covers with a flap that can be lifted up so the sound is not muffled. I bought window screen material to make the front of the cover

then I will add a zippered flap so if it rains the speakers will be protected. I needed some long zippers and they only came in white. I didn't want to look at white zippers on the covers so I thought I would use some fabric paint on them. When I was digging around I found some Dye-na-flow that I forgot I had. I mixed up the white with some black and brushed it on the zippers. This will look a lot better.

I was at work early so I could get the last of the gravel rocks I needed for around the A/C condenser.

and I fixed the valet guy's sign. The maintenance staff fixed it once - poorly I may add - and it broke again. They weren't interested in fixing it again.

With Loctite Power Grip and some clear Gorilla tape it is all fixed
Have a great weekend!

One more box

I need one more box of gravel rocks to finish stoning the area around the A/C condenser and then I am done hauling rocks home from work! I will get those tomorrow morning because I was running behind this morning and didn't have time to load up the car. I did load up the file box yesterday morning and also a wastebasket with the gravel rocks. There must have been about 150 pounds of rocks in those two containers.

I went around and gathered some smaller flatter rocks to make a border on the left then filled in with the gravel rocks. Here is the before and the current state

I will be glad to have this phase of my landscaping project done. I did roll those bigger rocks closer to there final position too. Here is where they are sitting now

I need to get this rock over to the Lenten rose bed. It doesn't roll because it has a flat bottom. I have a few feet to go to get it over to where those other big rock are at.

I was thinking last night while I was rolling rocks why I don't seem to get much done in the evenings then I came up with some numbers. I spend at least 12 hours a day getting ready for work, driving to work, and being at work. Throw in 8 to 8 1/2 hours of sleep that leaves 3 1/2 to 4 hours a day for everything else - dinner, cooking, cleaning, getting ready for bed, sitting and relaxing for a bit, and rolling rocks (LOL!!). Work really is interfering with my sewing production.

Could it get worse?

Sorry about the crabby reports about work. I left yesterday after 9 1/2 hours and my boss gave me a look like "your leaving already?" I brought the only thermometer I had and this is what it read. Looks like at least to 90 to me.

Then if that wasn't enough the subcontractors putting up the studs scrap off the fireproofing and just let it fall everywhere.
When I got back to my desk after a couple of meetings everything on my desk was covered with fireproofing - my papers were covered, my nut crackers were covered, my computer was covered. This is my desk after I moved all my paperwork off.

I hit the roof and started yelling at the subs about their behavior which I have already talked to them about last week. My boss said to me "well they will make messes." WHAT? She is the one who constantly complains about the guys making messes and dragging stuff all over the hospital, but I get upset about the mess they made and she defends the subs? I am confused! What messes are ok and what messes aren't?

This morning it is 60 degrees outside and here is the temperature in the construction space - looks like 80 to me. Better than 90 but still hot without a fan blowing.

I didn't get anything done last night. I had a hair appointment so by the time I got home it was 7 p.m. Maybe tonight I can get something done.

The heat is on

I survived day one in the non air conditioned construction zone. It had to have been between 85 and 90. I have my own box fan and it keeps the air moving, but it blows my papers around and draws the dirt in my direction. I just feel dirty all day long. It is not suppose to be as hot today and we have a pre-install meeting in an AIR CCONDITIONED ROOM so even though the meeting will be boring, I will at least be cool. Another thing I have to do is wear ear plugs all day long. The noise of them cutting metal studs with a chop saw is deafening. Just them dropping the studs on the floor rattles my teeth. By the end of the day my ears hurt from the ear plugs.

I was beat when I got home, but took the beef and water I had in the crock pot all day, transferred it to a pot on the stove, and made vegetable soup. I had some for breakfast and it was really good!

This morning I was up early and had time to sew together one of the equipment covers I had cut out a few weeks ago. This one is for the keyboard player's amp. I know it doesn't look like much so I will try to get a picture of it on the amp.
