Thank goodness it is Friday.

This has been one hectic week. After work yesterday I had to drive a different route to go get my hair cut. It was a different route since I am now working in a different place. I had to figure out how to get to the salon and after driving thru hill and dale for 50 minutes I arrived on time. It was snowing and very windy, but I didn't have any issues. By the time I got home it was 6:30 and I was beat.

I did managed to get a bit done this morning. I finished quilting the orange shirt and started on the red one right above it. It is hard to see, but I have all the lettering outlined and part of the bull's head quilted until my thread broke.

I plan on staying home all weekend and quilting. Any plans? Whatever you do have a great weekend!

It's a start

I has been a couple busy and exhausting days moving from my office at the high school

to my new digs at the hospital. It took one trip on Tuesday and two trips Wednesday to move all my stuff. I am still unpacking, but here is what I have done so far

I noticed that the daffodils and day lilies are coming up with the spells of warmer weather we have been having. The ones next to the house come up sooner since the sun beats on the brick and it is a bit warmer. I even had one crocus flower. The deer eat the flowers so I was surprised there was one they missed.

I was tired when I got home from work last night with lifting boxes, loading and unloading the car, and lots of walking. I managed to get a bit more quilting done on the Harley quilt. It is going to take a while for me to get into a new routine so sewing in the evenings is going to suffer a bit. I do almost have the first shirt quilted. I still need to go around the Harley Davidson letters and then this shirt will be done. For now here is the front and the back.

I forgot to take a picture of what I have done so far. Oh well.

I am busy moving out of my office at the high school. I have the car loaded with boxes that need to go the project's storage room. When I get back the custodians will help me load the file cabinet and the microwave in the car and I will run those over to the new job site.

Tomorrow morning I will pack the car with the fridge, my chair, fan, three boxes of paperwork and office supplies, and my computer and say goodbye to the school. That is how it is when you work in the field for a construction company. I have just been at the same location for a long time so it is a bit harder to get myself into a new routine.

Stuff done.

I never realized how exhausting coughing can be until this weekend. I do feel better.

Saturday I got these four boxy pouches made for my sister. They are all packed up and ready to mail.

I got the two road case covers made for my brother. Here one of the road cases

And the covers which are made from a special flame resistant fabric.

I sewed a label on this quilt

and will ship it to my brother and SIL for a friend's baby girl

I got a few bobbins wound and am now ready to start quilting the Harley quilt this week.

Big changes for me this week at work. I have to move out of the high school and will be at the next job which is a hospital renovation. There are still lingering items that are not finished for the schools. I will be holding on to that paperwork and try my best to follow thru and get it done. My biggest obstacle are people that think everything is done and getting paperwork circulated. I need to get my stuff packed up and moved in the next couple of days. I have been spoiled that I am only a mile from work. The new job is 8.3 miles, but it takes 20 minutes to drive that distance. No more going home for lunch.

I am feeling a bit better and did get almost all of the Harley quilt pin basted. I forgot to take a picture.

The snow is heavy and very wet. I had to drive around a tree that had fallen. There was just enough room to get past it.

The last 48 hours ...

have been a bit rough. This cold is cramping my style! Tuesday was coughing day. My ribs hurt from my spine to my sternum still from the coughing. I got some cough medicine after work on Tuesday and that symptom is now under control. Wednesday was nose blowing day. I went thru almost an entire box of Kleenex and my nose looks like Rudolph's! Who knows what today will bring. Right now my left ear is blocked up; I can't tell about the right one.

I did manage to do a bit of pin basting after work yesterday. Every couple of minutes I had to stop to blow my nose so it was hard to get into a rhythm, but I have about half of the quilt pin basted.

I had named my oversized log cabin quilt

as my project for the first half of 2018, but I have put the Harley quilt ahead of it. I got the backing taped down, spread out the batting, and the top is now ready for pin basting. The top is about 82" x 94".

The sooner I get this quilt done, the sooner the lady running the poker run can start to sell the raffle tickets for the quilt. This will be for the 8th annual poker run honoring the ladie's daughter who was killed in an automobile accident. All the proceeds go to charity in honor of her daughter. This will be the third quilt I have made for this event. So therefore, I have dropped everything and will work on the quilt until I get it done.
