Binding & a rock t-shirt score!

I had a lot of walking to do after work as I only had about 3,200 steps in by the time I got home. It was cold last evening, about 26 degrees, and it took me about 55 minutes to get my steps in. That cold sure tireds you out! So while I was watching Top Gear as Monday nights are Top Gear night, I did get the binding sewn on the next UFO. I didn't get the corners sewn so I will do that tonight.

I have been trolling ebay looking for inexpensive rock/metal t-shirts for a project and this AC/DC shirt came in the mail yesterday. It is a small so it went very cheap. I am going to have to start cutting apart the shirts I have to see how many more I need and what band's t-shirts to try and find.

One busy weekend!

I managed to get another UFO quilted. Here it is on my big table. I laid out the binding this morning and will sew it on - at least by machine - tonight.

I blew a half a day at the mall Saturday. How? Well, I have only been in the mall one other time I can think of and that was at least 4 1/2 years ago. I decided I needed to finally join the 21st century and get a better phone. I got to the mall before they opened and walked around to see what stores were there and try not to get run over by the mall walkers. Once the Apple store opened it took 3 freakin' hours to get a phone. The guy that helped me was very nice, but he wanted to talk about stuff not related to the phone purchase. I kept trying to get him back on track. Here is my bedazzled flip phone next to my new iPhone 5S. I got the new phone so I could track my info for my fitbit and not have to write everything down on a piece of paper and then add the info once I got to a computer. I am driving everyone crazy asking them questions as I have never used one of these evil devices before.

I needed a bit of sparkle so I bought this phone cover that has a bit of shine.

After I bought the cover there was a kiosk in the mall selling watches and watch bands. My leather watch band was falling apart so I got a new one. I then headed for the door to get the heck out of there!

On Sunday a friend came over for some help. She had made a couple of little girl dresses and needed buttonhole in them. Her machine doesn't zig zag. SO before she came of course I had to do some clean up!

SO between walking, laundry, dishes, a bit of vacuuming, and doing my exercise video it was a busy weekend!

4th finish of 2015

Yes, finally I got this quilt done! It is 42" x 57 1/2" and will go into my stash of baby quilts.

I received some fabric the other day. I had been eyeing these skeleton panels and since they were on clearance I just had to buy them. I have a bunch of Halloween fabric left that I can use with them. The black fabric is for making a couple of pairs of pants.

So this weekend is it on to the next UFO and getting the pants cut out. Have a great weekend!

BInding, more snow, and hacked

I keep plugging away on the binding. I don't know why this is taking so long! I did spend an hour exercising last evening, but I feel like I still should have been able to get this done. Oh well, it will be done for sure tonight!

We got another 3" last evening, so I was out shoveling again this morning. It was a light fluffy snow so it wasn't hard to shovel, but it has gotten to the point where I have to pick up shovel fulls and the throw it into the yard . It is also very cold. It was 11 when I was out shoveling and I ended up going back in the house to get my ski gloves because my fingers were so cold. Wind chill today is -4. Burrrrrrr!

I did get my new suitcase I bought on ebay yesterday. I haven't traveled that much so I didn't have one with wheels. This is one of those spinning wheel cases. I got a great deal on it.

Got an email this morning that our health insurance company was hacked. The hackers got names, addresses, SS#'s, yeah the whole nine yards. We don't need to do anything until we get a letter in the mail from them in TWO WEEKS! Unbelievable! When Home Depot got hacked I immediately closed my account. Can't close my insurance! They are going to give you free credit monitoring and identity theft protection, but not until you have been identified and that could take TWO WEEKS! By then a person credit could be a mess! I just wish the government would put their foot down and forbid companies from requiring people's SS# for everything. I almost forgot the City of Akron got hacked last year by some hackers in Turkey. I just want to live my life in peace and there are these nasty people that make life so hard. Karma baby, karma will get you!

Binding, crane, lunch, and footprints in the snow

Between last evening and this morning I managed to get one long side and around the corner hand stitching the binding on my 4th UFO for the year. Last evening kind of got away from me as I was tired and was watching the Top Gear episodes I taped from the night before.

Yesterday at work the big crane had to be moved. It ended up on the backside of the building and this is a shot out the trailer door of the crane swinging a plank of precast concrete into place.

Yesterday I went to lunch with a friend. We went to an Asian restaurant and I had sushi. It was so good! Look how pretty it was on the plate. I did not go near the wasabi!

We got another 1" of snow last night. I went out to shovel and there were footprints in the snow from a couple of deer that wandered thru the yard looking for something to eat.

Binding and plowing

After my lovely walk to the house after work - ha ha -it was cold - I proceeded to get the binding on my 4th UFO. So it is now ready for me to do the hand stitching.

The city finally got around to plowing the cul-de-sac at 3 a.m. I know because they woke me up with the big truck rumbling back and forth, but at least I could drive to work today. Here is the pile of snow in front of my house. If I was a kid I could see some fun times playing in this big pile. I took this picture out my car window. Thank goodness I didn't have to walk this morning as the temperature is 8 degrees this morning!

UFO update and the snow

I have another quilt almost done, but with this crazy snowy weather I just didn't have the energy to finish it. Read on and I will describe the weekend, but in the meantime here is where I am at on my 4th finish. I got it all quilted and the binding sewn together. I figure tonight I can at least get the binding machine sewn on.

We didn't get even close to the amount of snow many places received, but it is still hard to walk in! Some of the plowed streets look like this

The cul-de-sac where I live will not get plowed until the crews start running out of street to plow and it looks like this

This is the stuff that is hard to walk in. It is like walking in soft sand. With my walk on Friday night and Saturday I was exhausted. It is a lot of work fighting the snow, wind, slush, and foggy glasses.

Sunday I had to shovel twice - once about 1 o'clock where there was 2 1/2" of snow and the second time at 6:40 p.m. where there was another 2" - less snow than what was predicted. When I went out at 1:00 I had no TV reception. I knew what was going on. The stupid dish was covered with snow and was blocking the signal. Oh, it the one on the top of the house not the one on the garage. The one on the garage was when I had a different satellite provider.

So I had to dig out my dish cleaning pole, tape some rags to the end and clean of the dish. The dish is a story and a half above the sidewalk so it is quite a reach!

The weather people were predicting more snow this morning so I decided to walk to work. The cul-de-sac has somewhere between 4 1/2" and 5" of snow and if we got any more I would probably get stuck. I walked the 1.1 miles and when I got in the trailer I looked down and somewhere along my journey my YakTrac's had come off. Darn! Now I had to go back outside and retrace my steps to find them. There was this one section of unplowed sidewalk and that is where I found them. The unplowed snow was very crispy and deep so I think that is why they came off. I was just glad to find them. By the time I got back to work the bottom of my pants were wet and frozen hard. I am now sitting in from of a space heater. Fun times!
