Scrap-a-palooza day 19 and 20 plus progress on the DNP quilt

I was just too tired to post yesterday so here is what I did get done on day 19.
So today I sorted scraps into piles. Here is a pile that will be cut into 3 1/2" squares, 4 1/2" x 16 1/2" pieces for chevron tops, and pieces that will end up 3" wide for making zig zag blocks.
Then I made piles of these like pieces.
Then there were some more pieces for string blocks.
I could not avoid quilting the DNP any longer so yesterday I broke down and got started. I guess I am dreading this job because this quilt is so darn big.  I started free motion quilting yesterday.  I made pretty good progress. I figure I have 9 days to get the quilting done and two days for binding in order to have it done for Xmas. That means I need to quilt at least 9 square feet a day! Right now I have 22 square feet quilted which means I am ahead of schedule. I figure there are 81.7 square feet to quilt!  I will get a bit more done while I watch the Browns game tonight. The sooner I get it quilted the sooner I can bind it and the sooner it will be done.  In this picture the quilt is folded so there is a lot more top to quilt!

Wow, Patty, that is great progress, and it is quite a big quilt. I'm sure you'll get it done no problem. It looks really good. Love seeing the scrap cutting project. I should do the same with the fabrics we've accumulated for our charity group. I was thinking of string blocks by colour to get us going.

All the small moments of time add up. Before you know it you will be finished!
