Expression, not perfection

I got right to stitching after work on the Lynyrd Skynyrd shirt. I tried to show how the lettering area was a bit puffy.

Here it is after back stitching the lettering. It is nicely nailed down! I do go thru the backing and batting with the stitching so the stitching helps pull all those layers together.

So here is the lettering all stitched. I was asked if I use a hoop and I do not. There is enough firmness with the machine quilting to easily add the embroidery. I find that I sometime don't pull my embroidery snug enough so I have to watch that. I still feel like I need to add more to this shirt, but I need spread my efforts across the quilt as I am quickly running out of time.

I did get the "N" in Guns N Roses shirt stitched too. Now my stitches are not exactly all the same size and that is not what I am aiming for. I am aiming for expression, not perfection. Expression doesn't mean sloppy workmanship, but for me it shows what I decided to do at that point in time.

Remember the white, pink, gray, and black pirate/music baby quilt?

Well, here is a picture of the baby on her quilt. What a hoot!
