So glad it is Friday

I will have sewing progress for you on Monday. After I got home from work I took a walk around the yard and saw yellow. Yes, the daffodils think it is spring and you can see the yellow blooms. It is going to get into the 20's over the next four days and there is snow in the forecast. They are not going to be happy. These are next to the house so they get a lot more heat because the residual heat from the brick.
This week has been Women In Construction week. Believe it or not there is a national organization call WIC. I don't belong and never had a desire to belong to WIC, but at work they have done a few things to highlight women. We now have several female engineers and of course, all the admin staff is women. They had a luncheon for us yesterday and each of us received a Yeti tumbler custom printed on the back. A company saying we have is Great People. Proven Results. They changed that to Great Women. Proven Results. to put on the tumblers. I am kind of on the fence about that, but at this point - whatever! It is a nice tumbler.
I will run out to get the quilting thread I need for the Harley quilt, but other than that I plan on staying home this weekend and getting some stuff done. Have a great weekend!

Harley progress and cross stitch status

The Haley quilt is now pin basted so it was time to dig out some quilting thread. Looks like I am going to have to get some navy blue and dark gray because clearly what I have on hand will not be enough. I have more black thread. I looked it up yesterday and this will be the eighth Harley quilt I have made. It will be the 13th anniversity of the death of the lady's daughter who has the poker run.
I finished up stitching that small I had been working on.
I got a small start this morning on the Vintage Buttons small I am stitching for my sister. She asked for it to be stitched in purple or charcoal. I am stitching this in purple.

Harley quilt progress, fabric washed, more tote bag fabric, and some linen

I have made great progress on the Harley quilt. It is now 90% pin basted. Thanks for the input about whether I should make it a bit wider or not. I took your advice and did not add on.
I got the rest of the Wishwell Weather Report fabric washed and pressed. It is now ready for me to make several quilts out of it.
My sister sent me a box with some goodies. She included some fabric I can use for tote bags
She had gone to an estate sale and bought some cross stitching linen. She got it all for a very good price and sent me some of the smaller pieces to use for making smalls. Hours of stitching fun here!
She picked out one piece of linen that she wants me to stitch one of those Vintage Button smalls for her. She also sent me the buttons to sew on the small.

2nd finish for 2023 and the Harley quilt top

Finally the t-shirt quilt for my niece is done. It finished at 66.5" X 96". This quilt came about because my sister was cleaning out the remnants left behind by her daughter after she moved out.
The weather was so nice on Saturday and Sunday I just had to get outside a bit. Saturday, I cleaned up the side yard - again. My neighbor has an arborvitae that just drops needles all the time and it makes such a mess. There were also loads of sticks from his trees.
I ended up with a wheelbarrow of needles and then got out the leaf blower to get the leaves and sticks blown down to the tree line in the back.
Sunday, I got out the electric chain saw and trimmed both of my mugo pines. I still need to do some hand pruning on them, but they look a bit better. I toss the branches onto a tarp and drugged them to the tree line.
When I wasn't out working in the yard, I was working on the Harley quilt top. I just started going thru the shirts I had and decided to use shirts that had the name of a city on them. Every one of these shirts has a different place named. It is hard in this photo to see the shirts that are dark navy blue from the black shirts.
I have been debating if I should add a couple inches at each side. Right now, the quilt top is 82.5 x 97. I was thinking about adding a black strip at each side. The quilt doesn't have to be any particular size so I could just call it a day and leave it. I don't want to have to piece more than two strips of fabric together for the backing, so I am leaning to leaving it the size it is.

Brownie vest stitching and next project.

I am happy with the progress I have made on stitching the Brownie vest to the t-shirt quilt back. Another couple hours and it will be done. The yellow line is what is sewn.
So it is time to get the next project lined up. That project will be the annual Harley quilt. Here is the pile of shirts I have on hand. That pile is 13" tall.
I have mostly dark shirts. I have no idea what design or layout I will be doing; I am just flying by the seat of my pants and see what happens! I will be using the KISS theory - Keep It Simple Stupid! LOL!! I hope to get outside and do a little yardwork this weekend as well as sew. I am going to try and stay home as much as possible, but you never know. Have a great weekend!

I was happy I was able to finish sewing the sash on last evening. The Brownie vest is now pinned on and ready for me to start stitching it down.

Making progress

The yellow line shows what I have stitched down so far. Another hour or two and the sash will be sewn on.
I received my last order for Wishwell Weather Report fabric. The ones on the right are repeats of colors I already bought and the ones on the left are new ones to my stash of this fabric line. I think I have enough now to work with.
