Got that seventh project bag
I wanted to give as my table gifts at the retreat a matching TB, scissor pouch, and PB. I was short a PB and half of the fabric I needed for one more scissor pouch. What I had was nothing but cut up pieces and a partially made TB. I started last evening by going ahead and putting together the six PB that I knew had all the pieces. They now just need to have the self-binding pressed and sewn then they will be done.
So then I laid out the fabric parts and pieces I had left.
I took apart the zipper pocket that was made for the TB and there was enough fabric for the other half of the scissor pouch.
I then press all the tan sampler pieces to figure out which ones would work the best to add to the 12 1/2" x 15" outside piece. I needed the outside piece to measure 14" x 16"
I was able to match up the pattern for the bottom piece so the seam is barely noticeable.
I press the heck out of the seams so they would be nice and flat then I trimmed it to 14" x 16". The add on fabric will be part of the self binding so I don't think they will be that noticable.
Here the interfaced lining piece and the altered backing piece are ready for quilting.
OH we are not done! LOL!! I still needed the pieces for zipper. I didn't have enough of the tan sampler fabric like I used for the rest of the PBs.
So I took the last extra interfacing lining piece, heated it up and pulled the fabric off the interfacing.
There was still some glue on the back of the fabric, but I pressed it lightly and cut the pieces I needed. So now I have all the parts I need for that seventh bag. If the table where I sit at the retreat isn't filled, then I might not need to give this one away. The round tables usually are set up for 8 stitchers.
This was a lot of fiddling around, but I am happy I was able to get that 7th just-in-case project bag.
