6th finish for 2025

It's done! It's a bit winkled.  LOL!!
I got the baby quilts pin basted. I pieced together a back from the odds and ends I had of some darker green fabric for the quilt with the green squares.
I pieced together another baby quilt so I could use up the floral fabric and all the light pinky purple strips. I ended up running out of the pink so I pieced the rest of the blocks with the green.
I had to sew some scraps together of the floral in order to get enough to make the 30 blocks I needed. Here is a shot of one of the pieced pieces.  The floral fabric I had left is pretty much a scrap.
Saturday the band had a show locally so I drove there myself. We had a big crowd and I was busy at the merch booth.
I finally saw some butterflies last week and now I see them almost every day.  One time there were three on the coneflowers.

Binding sewn on - check!

I got the binding sewn on and the corners sewn so it is on to the hand stitching this weekend.
The A/C at work got fixed yesterday. Today it is much cooler - 66 degrees right now. Getting rid of the humidity in the office helps so much! I am going to have to try and get outside and do a check on the weed situation and I need to get after the mess in the backyard. We have the possibility of rain both Saturday and Sunday so my plans have to be flexible. Have a great weekend!

I am now 91.5% done with the quilting! I have what is left to be quilted marked in this photo with yardsticks.
Here is spool 5 empty.
I already have the binding made for this quilt.

Log cabin quilting is so close to being done

I got a couple hours of quilting in last evening and the bobbin didn't goobber up once! I am now 82% done with the quilting. I only have this 1,444 square inches to quilt.
Here are my calculations. I also have used 39 bobbins of thread so far. I will have to wind a few more.
Gail, thanks for the info on the weeds. I don't plan on eating any since I will not be letting them grow! LOL!!

Log cabin progress, a broken foot, and weeds

I spent most of the weekend quilting on the log cabin quilt. The quilt is 82" x 95" and I am now 71% done with the quilting! I tried switching bobbin casings, but that didn't help. Eventually Saturday evening the bobbin issues seem to clear up and I only had two times where the bobbin goobered up on Sunday.
I used this King Tut variegated thread on the front and back. It looks tan on some of the fabrics and I see hints of blue on others. I have two spools left and that will be plenty to finish this quilt.
Here are my empty spools. I just bought six spool of this thread a few weeks ago when Signature Thread had this color on sale for 70% off. There is 500 yards on a spool.
The foot I used to FMQ broke. This is the second foot I have broken in the many, many years I have done free motion quilting. I always keep a spare on hand. I will be ordering another foot to be the new spare.
I watched the TDF while I quilted on Sunday and this poor fellow crashed going about 30 mph. He slid across the asphalt into the weeds. They checked his injuries and did a concussion examine. The fellow got back on his bike. There was still several hours of racing to go.  The backside of his left arm was also missing skin.  Ouch!
The rider caught up to the medical car and there the doctors worked on patching him up. The doctor's car is at the very back of the race and is the only car the riders are allowed to hold onto.
Sunday morning I did get outside to weed for an hour and a half. I don't know what these weeds are called but they showed up after I had put down the mulch on the center bed last weekend.
I got those pulled and a few more other weeds so now that bed looks better. I did see a few of the California poppies seeds I spread start to come up.

Log cabin quilt progress

I got to work pin basting the log cabin quilt as soon as I got home from work. We closed the office a bit early because it was very warm in the office. We haven't had A/C for two weeks now and it was 82. If the part comes in, it should get fixed next week. Anyway, I got the quilt bin basted and have 7% of the quilting done.
I was having problems with the bobbin thread coming out of the bobbin slot. I oiled the bobbin casing, changed the needle, and as a last resort tightened the bobbin case screw just a tiny bit. We will see it the quilting goes smoother today.

Log cabin backing

Yesterday was a struggle since I was still so tired from the show. By afternoon I was feeling a bit better so I decided to piece together a back for the log cabin quilt.
Here was the pile of backing pieces
The pile doesn't look much smaller! LOL!!
I got the batting cut so this weekend I will pin baste the log cabin quilt.
Have a great weekend!

Show in Cleveland

I got the last three tote bags sewn together.
Then I headed to Cleveland with the band. The opening act was a fabulous group of ladies doing some intense dance exercise. They moved for 45 minutes in the heat and humidity. The crowd joined in and they ladies were amazing. They wore me out by the third song. The head of the group has a gym in the area.
The Wienermobile was there.
Hula hoops are a big thing at the show. There was a big crowd for the show and everyone seemed to have a good time.
When we were packing up we noticed the moon was coming up behind the tower of the hospital. It was pretty cool.
I got to bed at midnight. Here are the standing hours I had for the day
