Cleanup in aisle Scrap!

I had dumped some of my scrap bins on one of the guest room beds several months ago with the intention of going thru the pile to pull out pieces big enough for making small curved top pouches. I was going to do that while I was home for the holidays, but I ran out of time. Here is what the pile looked like.
I spent a couple hours sorting thru them. I would bring an armload to my big table, sort them by color, and pull out the pieces big enough for pouches. I also decided to see what I had that would be big enough for thread beds. I did a little drawing to size for the pouches so I wouldn't have to keep measuring. I also wrote the sizes I needed for the thread beds. I need to put a new cover on my pressing pad so I didn't care that I wrote on it.
I ended up with this pile of fabric for thread beds
This pile for pouches
The smaller scraps sorted by color groups
I was finding a lot of strings so I used one of the bins I emptied to toss those in. Anna, do you need any more?
This is what the pile on the bed looks like now. I have lots more to sort thru!
I did find some improv pieced red and yellow hourglass blocks. There are 13 that are sewn together and another one that needs sewn. I don't know how long these have been buried in the scraps, but I will keep these somewhere so they can be made into a quilt. I will probably add to them too. I think they will be around 8" trimmed.
I am going to try to sort thru the scraps over the next few days.  It will be nice to get them sorted.

It always feels like such an achievement once the pile is dealt with, doesn’t it? The hard part is to keep at it, lol.

Sorting can be fun, especially when some pieces will become new projects. I have one big bin of scraps that I haven't opened for at least a year.
