Covers done, quilting progress, a tutu, and building a bridge

I tried hard this weekend to get some things done. Friday As soon as I got home from work I finished the two remaining covers and headed to the FedEx office.

On the way home I stopped at a craft store to pick up supplies to make a 4th of July tutu for my brother and SIL's dog.

On Saturday I also finished sewing together the baby quilt. I sewed two pieces together for the backing and on Sunday got it pin basted. I started quilting on the baby quilt as soon as I got back from the grocery store Sunday morning. I got the top done except for one corner.

On Friday one of the fellows here took me out to see the job site for the bridge project I am working on. Here is 5' 2" of me standing next to one of the beams.

I was happy with what I accomplished this weekend, but there is always more that needs done!

Three done, two to go

I now have three of the five covers made. I still don't have the address where I need to ship them. I plan on getting the other two done tonight and move on to the next project!

Here are my pitiful zucchini plants. The one has flowered! I need to get these in the gound this weekend and then I then they will really grow.

My plans for the weekend are to work on the baby quilt and spend some time cleaning the garage to find the source of the smell. Have a great weekend!

Progress on the covers

I finished cutting all the pieces and parts I needed for the keyboard covers. That took more time than I thought. I did make one cutting mistake, but overall, I don't think it will matter.

I was able to get one made before I physically crashed. Here is the first one done and what it looks like folded up. It's not exactly what the fellow had in mind, but I am doing what I can.

The coneflowers are starting to show their colors. This is the second year for these plants and they are doing well.

Emergency project

Someone who works with my brother needs some covers for keyboards. The fellow wants vinyl tops and black sides. I wasn't able to order some darker fabric for the sides because I was so under the weather I couldn't even think about doing that. What I ended up doing is figuring out how much fabric I needed for the sides, cut a chunk of duvetyn, and cleared off this table in the garage so I could Scotch Guard the fabric. This will help any moisture to roll off the fabric. Good grief my garage smelled of Scotch Guard! Duvetyn is flame resistant fabric that I make some covers out of.  

Thank goodness I had bought a bunch of vinyl to have on hand. I pulled the smaller roll and got 4 out of the 5 pieces for the vinyl tops cut out. I still need to trim them to the correct width.

I am not 100% sure this is what the fellow had in mind, but when you don't have the equipment in front of you it is hard to get a tight custom fit. I am going with a looser fit so the cover goes over wires and the knobs. They might not be exactly what he had in mind, but they will be better than what he has which is NOTHING! LOL!! Apparently, they had a show and the rain was biblical; everything got soaked. If nothing else they can keep the keyboards covered before the show to keep the dust off of them. I need to have these done yesterday so you know what I will be doing tonight. I have felt so bad I couldn't even think about making these last week, but even though my ears still are clogged up I am feeling better - yeah!  I made a couple pedal board covers a while back and was worried if the guy would be happy with them.  He said it was better than the plastic shower curtain he had been using so he was happy.  I need to stop worrying about these keyboard covers and just get something made.  

Baby quilt and blooming soon

I was tired when I got home from work and fell asleep while watching the news. When I woke up I sewed together the blocks for the last three rows of the baby quilt. Not much sewing but better than nothing!

This morning I took this picture of one of the coneflower plants just starting to bloom.

It looks like the Shasta daisies are about to bloom too.

Shows and fighting the allergies

Wednesday evening I sewed together the tote bag for the Harley quilt. I was so tired that was all I could accomplish. Since I was handing over the quilt the next day I had to get it done.

I did get 11 more tote bags sewn together and four tote bags for drum heads. They are all the same design; the drum head bags are just bigger.

Thursday the band headed to Sandusky, OH for Ohio bike week. We got there at 4:00 p.m. and I got to bed at 1:00 a.m. The show went well. The venue was on a pier on Lake Erie. I felt so terrible I didn't even walk around to soak in the view. These are shots from the merch booth.

Friday the band headed to Mansfield, OH for a show at The Brickyard. There is no ramp and the kids have to lift all the equipment to the stage level. There was a big crowd until the sun went down and it started to get chilly. So many people left. You would think people would look at the weather and bring a jacket or a blanket. The show went well and I was feeling a bit better so the ride home was not torture like it was the night before. I got to bed at 1:45 a.m.

I got the covers made on Sunday plus two wireless transmitter pouches my brother needed.

Saturday it took every ounce of strength I had to mow the front and one of the sides. I was so tired. The rest of Saturday and Sunday was catching up on house stuff - cooking, gathering trash, a little cleaning, and spending some time in the garage cleaning up. My garage smells like something died in there so I have got to keep cleaning until I find what is stinking the place up.  I am feeling a bit better, not as tired, but my ears still have fluid in them.    

Good news?

I had my appointment with my kinesiologist/chiropractor Functional Nutritionist last evening. After he did a few tests, I do not have a cold; it's allergies! That came as a surprise to me. I still feel terrible, but at least I am not contagious. After making a couple stops on my way home, one to get some allergy meds, it was 6:00 p.m. and I was exhausted. This morning, I was able to get the tote bag cut out for the Harley quilt and a label sewn on a baby quilt.

Hopefully I feel better quickly because the band has two shows this week. I will be off work Thursday and Friday. I can tell even after taking just one allergy pill my head is starting to clear up. I only have to take one pill every 24 hours so it's going to be a few days to get enough in my system to get my symptoms under control. I am going to have to concentrate on making tote bags Thursday and Friday then I will switch to working on the baby quilt. We will catch up Monday!
