I forgot about seeing a Goodwill truck that sits in a parking lot on my way home. There is someone there everyday that accepts your stuff. I will be stopping there on my way home.

We did get a dusting of snow.

FYI - Ann has problems getting the tape to stick to the fabric when taping down her backing. The blue tape is useless especially if it is humid. Years ago I started using the Scotch 3M green tape. First they called it for hard to stick surfaces, then it was for concrete surfaces, now it is labeled for rough surfaces. It works great even on flannel. Do not confuse this with Frog tape - they are not the same. I usually get it at Sherwin-Williams when they have a coupon for painting accessories. I haven't found it at Home Depot or Lowe's in the stores around here, but they change the products they carry all the time so you might find it there.

Pink flannel and cool pillow review

I got half way done pin basting the pink flannel quilt. Yes, Vicki, I will be quilting it this weekend. I would like to have it done by end of day next Tuesday as I go to the hospital on Wednesday's for the Owner's meeting. That way I can give it to the fellow whose wife is ill.

After four nights of sleeping on my new pillow I can say I do like this new pillow! I am sleeping better. I bought it at Kohl's and paid $40.00 plus tax. I have been sleeping longer because I am not waking up because my head is so hot. The pillow gets warm, but not hot. I flip it over anyway as I settle in to go back to sleep, but I am only waking up one or two times a night vs. 4 or 5. Big difference! I also am not having to sleep with the window above my head open.

A clean table

I got the table cleared off and the backing flannel for the pink quilt ripped to size. I need to press the selvages that I will sew together. After I sew the two halves, I will press the entire back.

While cleaning the table, I found some envelopes that were big enough to put two lap sized quilt tops I put together for Vicki. These will be veteran quilts. The tops were buried too so I was glad to find those. Now I just need to get to the post office.

After work it was decent enough to stay outside and finish mulching that bed. As a reminder I left it looking like this.

It took six more wheelbarrows full to fill in the bed. Pushing the loads uphill is harder then when I took it down the hill to the backyard for storage! LOL!! I am glad I got this done. I also watered the liriope again.

I was very tired on Saturday, but I managed to get most of the quilt top assembled and finished it up on Sunday.

Now I need to clean up my table so I can pin baste. How does my table get to be such a mess? LOL!!!

I managed to squeeze out enough energy on Saturday after grocery shopping (3 stores) to plant the liriope. I gave them a big drink of water so lets hope they get well rooted before the ground freezes. I was suppose to get 10 plant starts, but the lady sent me 15. Nice!

Sunday I spent most of the day with family. We went to lunch and then to the mall so I could pick up a few things. I thought I needed a new bed pillow and found one that was suppose to keep your head cool. I used it last night and I sleep pretty darn good. I will give it a few more nights before I decide if the new pillow helps me sleep better.

Now we are cooking!

I got the four patch blocks sewn and pressed last evening. They are hung up on the design wall and my goal is to get this top sewn together this weekend.

Yesterday I got my order of variegated Liriope. I will be planting this in the center bed where I have a lot of empty space.

It will look like this eventually.

The rain has stopped and the weather is improving over the rain and wind we have had, so I will be sticking these in the ground sometime this weekend. Have a great weekend!

Better than nothing

I only got the strips sewn together as I was busy last evening with other tasks. They are ready for a quick press and then trimming to width before sewing on the 3 1/2" strip.

I decided to haul the ceramic tile out to the curb and sat it on top of the small fridge that was full of mold. I had taken off the door and cut the cord so the fridge was unusable. The tile is heavy and I didn't want to load it to take to Habitat. Jill, one Habitat store is way on the other side of town and the other one is right where all the construction we are doing so it is hard to get to. I am hoping one of the pickers takes it. It is about 115 SF and there is 4 different colors. I got it for nothing. I called the Habitat for a pick up but they were booking out 4 weeks.

Next I shredded for an hour. I didn't mean to shred that long, but I kept trying to make a dent. It is not my stuff, but I have been asked to properly dispose of a laundry basket and small garbage bags of paperwork. Next I leveled out the dirt in that bed with Bubba and hauled up three loads of sweet peat. I need at least four more wheelbarrows of sweet peat and that bed will be ready for winter. It looks so much better!
