I worked last evening to finish up the big center flower bed. The picture that I posted yesterday of the current state of the bed was when it was dark outside, so here is what it looked like before I got started.
Here is what it looks like now. Much better!
While cleaning this bed up I found a clump of daffodil bulbs; yes, I remember how pretty this clump is in the spring. I decided to dig them up and move them. You see that big mugo pine in the bed? Well, you can't see the daffodils from the street because the mugo pine has gotten so big so I moved the daffodils to the other end of the bed which is closer to the street. Here is the bucket of bulbs.
Here they are in their new home before I cover them up. I am sure I did not get all the bulbs dug up. I will have to wait until spring to see if a few still come up.
The next area I tackled was the bed next to the house. What a mess!
Yes, it was dark when I took the after picture. I am sure there is more that needs removed from this bed, but it was too dark to see so I will finish it up tonight.
I ended up with one wheel barrow of stuff for the compost pile.
Before work I put a couple of small chickens in the crock pot. That will taste good for dinner tonight and meals for the weekend!

Feeling it
I am feeling it this morning, that is, the second evening of working in the yard. A couple of Excedrin and I am now good to go. As long as the weather stays nice, I will be continuing to work in the yard instead of quilting.
I was happy with the progress I made last evening. I had this mess that needed cleaned up. I had already started taking down the fencing when I took the picture
So what is this for? I planted a evergreen tree that is low to the ground and the fencing is to protect it from someone stepping on it when it is covered with snow. The grass and weeds had overtaken it.
So here it is all cleaned up. The neighbor kids, 6 and 4, came over to inspect my work. I asked them if they knew what a zip tie was. Of course the answer was no. I showed them how zip ties worked and they helped me add a few more to anchor the fencing to the rebar.
I had to get the weed whacker out to trim the grass around the evergreen tree so I ended up going ahead and trimming the front yard and around the center flower bed. After that it was back to cleaning up that bed. Here is a picture from another angle of what still needed to be tackled.
Darkness came quickly so this is not the greatest picture of what it looks like now. There is still more dead crabgrass and weeds that need pulled.

What a mess
It was so nice outside after work. I needed to get my coneflower plant in the ground before it gets any colder so I spent the evening weeding the flower bed where it was going to be planted. With the heat we had this summer, the flower beds fell into a huge mess. This bed faces the south, so the sun just beats down on it and I cannot stand to be in the direct sun. Anyway, here are the before pictures
and the after. I still have more weeds, grass, and zinnias to pull out of this bed, but it looks much better.
Coneflower planted
Two very full wheel barrows of weeds and zinnias
I also got my canna rhizomes dug up before they freeze. This is all I have to plant next year! I will have to take better care of them than I have. I use to have so many rhizomes at the end of the season I was giving away pounds of them!
It looks like the weather is going to be good the rest of the week so I will probably try and keep working on cleaning things up. It is suppose to rain Saturday. I was so tired after crawling around and pulling weeds I didn't get any quilting done.

Beautiful weekend
Had lots of sunshine and cooler temps. Did a bit of laundry, dishes, weeding, and raked a few leaves. I also got quite a bit of quilting done on the tea towel quilt. I finished the gold and rust triangle border and then did the checkerboard border. I decided to meander stitch the checkerboard border and I like the way it turned out. The scale of the stitching and the contrast from the line stitching made it a good choice at least in my eyes.
Next I am going to work on the outer border.

Moving along
I got the gold triangles done on the second side of the triangle border so I am now half way done with this border. Yeah!
My order came from Superior Thread yesterday so now I have the navy thread I needed for that piano key border. I also bought two gray cones of King Tut for the future t-shirts quilts that will come my way.
I am glad it is Friday! I have no big plans for the weekend. Have a great weekend!

Good progress on the tea towel quilt
Last evening I got the partially done border done.
It was on to the next border and all the of rust and black triangles are quilted
The quilting is coming along quickly!
As I quilt I have been trying to decided how to quilt the two wider checkerboard sections. So far I haven't figured out what to do. I better figure it out quick since I will have the triangles quilted shortly. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

More progress on the tea towel quilt
My navy blue thread only got shipped yesterday, so I continued quilting the triangle border. I now have more than half of one side quilted and here is what it looks like
