Moving dirt, making 9 patch blocks, and eggs

After I picked up the neighbor's mail and took his and my trash and recycling bins out to the street, I got to work on moving the dirt pile. This is where the steps were and hopefully where the new deck will go. I needed to get this area sorted out and the skid steer ruts filled because I have no idea when my coworker will be doing the deck and I don't want to be in a time crunch to get this done.
My plan was to level out the area and use the excess fill to fill in the ruts.
After 45 minutes the area looked a lot better.
But I am not done. See the dark area at the bottom of the last picture. I need to remove some of that dirt and lower the whole area another couple of inches. I also need to clean up the pile of junk that was mixed in the dirt - concrete pieces, bricks, trash, and broken bottles.
The soil was loose and easy to move with my handy dandy hoe I bought last year.
I put away the tools after about 45 minutes of moving dirt and headed inside to sew. I wanted to get a few 9-patch blocks sewn together of each color wave just to see how they were going to look.
One of the fellows at work that I gave some Lenten Roses to has a small farm. They have chickens and he brought me a dozen eggs! I need to bake something!

  2. There is nothing better than fresh eggs from a friend. I don't bake as much when it gets warmer so I need to bake too and fill the freezer with sweets to pull out little by little.

  3. I’ve been working in the garden. Fortunately not much soil to move.
    Enjoy the fresh eggs.
