A busy four days!

Where did I leave off? Oh, the 16 patch blocks. I had a few sewn together

but I sewed like crazy and when I was home I managed to get all the blocks made from the strips I had sewn together. On top of that I got five tops made! Here are two that I will send to Vicki of Colorways by Vicki Welsh for veteran quilts. They will finish 48" x 60"
Then I made two baby quilts that will finish 36" x 48"

I was two blocks short to make this fun red and yellow baby quilt
So I quickly cut some fabric and made two more blocks so I would have quilt top number 5 done

I still had the pieces left from cutting the strips that I didn't have enough to make into 16 patch blocks so I mixed them up and put them on the design wall. I need to make five more pieces and I will have quilt top six out the pile of 3 1/2" strips. I will work on sewing this top together this week.

On Thursday night I worked a show my nephew's band had in Kent, Ohio. It was a beautiful evening and I kept busy at the merchandise booth. Michael wasn't feeling too good; he had some sort of virus, but still put on a great show.

Saturday I went to a girlfriend's house about an hour away. We went to the bulk food store - I needed organic oatmeal for cookies - stopped at the credit union, and then headed to a friend of hers for a wagon ride. Here are the horses, Peggy and Sandy, and the wagon we rode in. It was a lot of fun.

After the ride we went to lunch at a place that was taken over by a new owner and my friend wanted to try the place out. We both had burgers and they came with a mountain of fries! I ended up leaving half the fries; I just couldn't eat them all.

We headed back to my friend's house to finally get to work. She needs some help sorting thru her huge collection of quilting stuff. She needs to downsize because she wants to sell her house next year. We spent the afternoon sorting, bagging, and pricing vintage and newer blocks. We ended up with some trash and a box of donations. She was happy with the progress we had made, but I will be heading back in a couple weeks to help her out again to keep the momentum going. Here is one corner of her studio. Yes she has collected a lot of stuff over the years of going to auctions.

I tried not to come home with anything, but she wanted me to have three pieces of African fabric on bolts at a bargain price of a buck a yard, a piece of a very cool vintage fabric (the one on top) and she gave me one of the two partial bolts of a fabric with a dragon print. How could I say no? LOL!!!

I went out last evening to move the fence around the squash and look what I found!
This zucchini should have been picked sooner - it is 14" long - but I never saw it. I have two yellow squash growing; they are only about 5 to 6 inches right now. I will have to keep a close eye on them so they don't get too big.

I also saw the start of a butternut squash

Gosh, you have been busy. My FIL used to bring me HUGE zucchini. I really like a smaller one, but I stuffed the large ones. I'm pretty sure the only thing my MIL did with them was to make bread. Baked Acorn squash is my absolute favorite. Wow, that was a lot of sorting!!

You really had a great weekend with selling, sewing and sorting. We should have better weather from here on out in this summer for growing of vegetables. We finally got some rain and it sounds like a little more tonight and then back to sunshine. The heat always comes back late August when the kids go back to school though.

A busy weekend.
You and Julie (at Me and My Quilts) are both making tops with alternating prints and solids but hers are striped and yours are square. It's fun to compare the effects. Thanks.

We were in Kent on Saturday for a poker run that was a partial benefit for my son's Challenger baseball league.

LOOK at that mountain of fries! My kid would have been in heaven. Where was that?

My yellow squash are finally starting to grow.

Love the fabrics you left your friend's house with! Let me know if she is having a public sale. E-mail me! Shahann@yahoo.com We both know I need more scraps. LOL.
