Happy 4th and 250! Butterfly quilt progress and a show

By Thursday evening I had the binding on the butterfly quilt,
Friday morning I went the grocery store early and was greeted by mom and the twins who I have not seen for over a month
The band had a show so I started making ice to take the night before. I knew it would be hot so I wanted the cold melted water to use for my cool towel.
I made chocolate chip cookies, did dishes, and a bunch of little things until it was time to head out at 2:45. Michael didn't play until 8 PM but we were the headliner so it takes time to set up and do sound check. There were other bands playing too so we had to do our work between their sets. It was 95 degrees. I am so glad I brought the ice.
We have a fan at the booth which helped, but it was still so hot. I did manage to get half of the binding hand stitched on the butterfly quilt until all hell broke loose.
I was not on top of my game between the heat and a cold coming on. I should have been watching the radar instead of the sky. Dark cloud were rolling in and all of a sudden the wind picked up enough it blew the cover off the tent. Thank goodness several people came over to help. Even though the tent frame was strapped down, they were holding it while the cover flapped in the wind. With their help, we got the tent closed up without any damage. Then we started tearing the merch booth down while people still wanted to buy shirts. Then the rain started. We got most of the stuff packed before it started to pour. And the lighting - it was scary! Michael had stopped the show right when the winds started to howl. What a mess, but nobody got hurt which was good! They took everything over to Michael's studio so everything could dry out. Since the show was local, I drove myself. I got about a quarter of the way home and the power was out so no street lights or working traffic signals. I got thru the last intersection with a nonworking traffic signal so I thought I am home free. Wrong. I got to the railroad tracks and the gates were down with the lights flashing. There was no train so everyone was taking turns driving between the gates. I didn't get much farther and a street was blocked with rope and emergency equipment. I have no idea what was going on, but I had to turn around and try another way home. Meanwhile I was soaking wet and just want to get my wet clothes off. What a crazy night!
