When I got home from work, I watched the special on the Smithsonian Channel I had taped about Dale Chihuly. I have always been fascinated with his work. I was lucky enough years ago to go to the botanical garden in Pittsburg to see his work exhibited. After that it was a load of laundry and quilting another t-shirt.
I did go outside and take a picture of my neighbor's light display.
Dale's work is outstanding. I learned about him from a gorgeous display at a medical center we used. And we were fortunate to see an exhibit in Seattle. Those were the days.
ReplyDeleteI love Chihuly - I've only seen his work in the flesh once, at Kew Gardens in London, but it blew me away. My neigbour always puts reindeer on his garage roof; I really know Christmas is coming when they go up.
ReplyDeleteI was introduced to Dale Chihuly's work on a TV program way back when we first got cable TV. There was an exhibit up near Chicago in a glass conservatory near Mother's Day around 1999 or 2000 and my son took me and my oldest granddaughter up to see it. It is my fondest Mother's Day memory.
ReplyDeleteMost of my neighbors have stopped putting lights up outside.
I didn't know who Dale Chihuly was, but I googled it. His work is absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing the Christmas lights... always brings cheer to the season!
ReplyDeleteI got to see one Chihuly installation in Napa one year and a few years ago we vacationed in Seattle and got to go to the Chihuly museum. Oh, and we had a exhibit at the VMFA here one year. I absolutely love his work. Your neighbor's lights are so pretty!
