20th, 21st, and 22nd finish for 2021 and 1st finish for 2022

I am running behind already! I couldn't get my laptop to work with the hotspot on my phone so no posting over the holidays so now it is time to catch up. I got the two extra lavender quilts and the extra dark green quilt finished while I was home for 10 days. These will just go in my stash of baby quilts.
I also got the third tie pillow made out of what ties were left.
I spent a couple days cleaning house and just getting stuff back where it belonged. The glassmen came and installed a mirror and swinging shower panel in my bathroom.  Looks like I will finally get this bathroom done this year!  I still need to finish some grouting, hang the doors on the vanity, finish up some trim, hang the toilet paper holder and towel bar, repair the floor grout, reinstall the sconces, and install the threshold and then it will be done!
Since we were having 50+ degree days, I washed the car twice, vacuumed it, and waxed it. I still need to clean the windows and spray protectant on the plastic around the wheel wells, but the car is a lot cleaner than it was! I counted up my empty spools and ended up with 65 for the year.
I want to get all the 9 patch blocks made that I have started out of all that flannel I bought last year so while my friend was here for a couple days to sew, I worked on those. I got 87 blocks sewn together
Here are the piles of pieces waiting to be sewn into blocks
Here are strips sewn together that need pressed then sub cut for blocks
and here are the strips that need sewn together, then pressed, then cut for 9 patch blocks.
I had a stack of solid colored flannel strips left; I will have to figure out what to do with those later. Next I will attack the pastel flannel I have left and get whatever is left made into 9 patch blocks. I don't have nearly as much of the pastel flannels thank goodness!  LOL!! I also have a stack of plaid flannel strips to sew together that I set aside because they are mostly red and I want to make myself a red flannel quilt. When I have time I plan on making a couple extra adult sized flannel quilts to have on hand to give to someone when they are hit with a health issue. I did receive a box of Harley t-shirts to add to what I already have for the Harley t-shirt quilt I make every year for that charity poker run.
I also was the lucky recipient of one of Vicki's fabulous postcards! I will display it at the top of my design wall to enjoy all year along beside the other ones I have received over the years.
Here is my first finish for 2022. This is for a nephew and his wife who are expecting their first baby this month. It is already at the post office already to head to Texas.
Tomorrow I will report on my 2021 UFO list, what will be my 2022 UFO list, 2022 to-do list, and goals for 2022.

  2. It sounds like you had a fun 10 day stretch to do what you wanted to do. Lucky you had the warmer temps while you were off work. It sounds like it is going to be really cold for awhile.

  3. I see that you have several Molnlycke thread spools. My mother had a fabric store in the 70s and 80s. We sold that brand of thread. When my mother closed her store, she kept all the thread. When she passed, I got all the thread. I have been using it all these years. Several colors are all used up but I still have MANY spools of thread. One year, I sorted it all out by color and I can go right to the color I need now. Great stash!

  5. Wow! I love the backing on the first lavender quilt….it goes perfectly and yet is a surprise with the teal/dark. Home stretch on the bathroom…..I think I remember you did all the tiling work? I’m MOST impressed with you 65 empty spools but put then again, with all the quilting you do it makes sense. I ordered some buffalo red/black check to make a red quilt for me…..too funny you are looking to make a red quilt too. Sounds like you had a great time off and got sewing time with a friend….the best!!

  6. Those lavender quilts are so pretty! You were so productive over the holidays. I like the zig0zag quilts too. The color palettes on those really speak to me. I absolutely LOOOOOVVVVVEEE your bathroom time! I have some mini-tile like that in my powder room downstairs.
