Little by little

I took a half day vacation to get some work done around the house. It was a beautiful afternoon - sunny and cool - perfect for sanding doors. Can I even express in words how much I hate to sand? I put on my big girl pants and got on with it. I first had to take the doors down and remove the old painted over brass hinges. I had to chisel the hinge notches just a bit so the new hinges would fit. I used my pretty sawhorses to lay the doors out for sanding.

The one door needed some repair - wood filler

and there was a bit of veneer that needed glued back together

After wiping the doors down, I took them into the garage and was able to get two coats of paint on one door face and the sides. I will turn them around tonight and get at least one coat of paint on them.

I was almost 6 p.m. by the time I got the paint brush cleaned, but I needed to do one more job despite how tired I was. I needed to cut down the old growth on the ornamental grass. The plants were starting to grow. The neighbor's has cut theirs down a couple of weeks ago and they were looking good with the new growth.

I got them cut down and took three wheelbarrows of material to the recycling pile, but every step was a struggle. I was so tired at this point.

I am still tired this morning. In fact I am so tired I forgot to put my Fitbit on. So now I have to figure out how to capture all my steps from my walk this morning.

I did get one seam sewn on the R.E.M. quilt. That is all I could manage to do.

  1. Do you use the Fitbit app? I'm on there if you want to try one of the challenges

  2. Boy, you definitely know how to work hard! When you don't like a job, though there's nothing you can do but to take a breath and get on with it. I like your pretty saw horses.
