The quilt has been delivered to the venue. Whew! I worked on it up until the last minute. Friday and Saturday I stitched and stitched. This piece was improve pieced using rock/metal t-shirts. I first machine quilted it and then spent about 100 hours hand embroidering it.
Here is the photographer's photo. The quilt turned out 70" x 70". I think I will make this my header picture. Opening night is September 5. I met another artist with a quilt at the photo shoot. We talked and talked! We exchanged info and hopefully we can get together to talk more.
Here are the shirts I did outlining on this past weekend.
Then I did the emblishments including some crosses I found at a craft store, patches, and guitar pics.
The blimps were out and about on Friday. They were flying around the jobsite where I work for about a half hour.
Now I need to regroup and figure out what the next project will be.
Congrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! All that hand stitching really paid off. Where will this quilt go after the exhibit? Will you keep this one?
ReplyDeletePatty it looks fabulous! I would love to see this one in person! Congrats on a great finish!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see what you start working on next!
Wow, Patty, your quilt is fantastic! I love the additions of the picks, etc. (how'd you do that, anyway?). Your own magnum opus!
ReplyDeleteawesome work, as always!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL. the blimps were just checking on you! Seems like they really were interested in this finish!
ReplyDeleteWow, Patty. I love your machine embroidery on the different blocks. It add a nice touch without overpowering (or being overpowered by) the black. And the picks are a fabulous addition. I assume you added them with embroidery, too, kind of like Indian mirrors. Great job. Thanks for linking up with AHIQ.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, I like your 'voice.'
ReplyDeleteWow from me too. The hand quilting is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow - this is great. I have two large sons who would leap on it in a moment. I especially like the way you use embroidery on the quilt. Thanks for sharing it at AHIQ.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best t-shirt quilt I have ever seen! My daughter would be in love with it.:) Great work especially on the details!
ReplyDeletePatty, that is one of the coolest t-shirt quilts I've ever seen. Love the close up details you added.
