The yard is a mess. Since it is now in the low 60s I can get out and try and do a bit of mowing.
Unfortunately, I could not get the mower to run. It ran for about 30 seconds and then it quit. I then decided to at least trim so I got the weed wacker and started trimming the front. The string line for the weed wacker was not cooperating and I thought I was doomed! I trimmed the front and along the driveway. The grass strip between the curb and the front flower bed got a haircut with the weed wacker. I then moved my way around the back. Remember that strip in the back I didn't get mowed because the mower quit on me last week? Well, I decided to go after it with the weed wacker. I am talking about a strip about 10 - 12 feet wide and 65 feet long. Here is what part of it looked like before
and after trimming
After over an hour and a half of weed wacking my left arm was hurting. I wish someone would make a weed wacker for short people! Even after adjusting, the one I have it still to long to use comfortably. I still need to trim the front yard and find someone to take a look at the mower to see if they can figure out what is wrong with it. I put a new spark plug in it, I have fresh gas, and there is oil in it so what is it's problem?
I did see that my pine trees have new growth on them. This blue spruce seems very happy! I have had this tree since it was just a foot high stick. It is now about 11 years old and as tall as me which is 5' 2".
I was tired after all that, but I still managed to do a bit of quilting on the t-shirt quilt. I have about 3/4 of this block done. The t-shirt is very black and it was difficult to see where I was going and where I had been even with all the lighting I have.
You are sure persistent! Weed whacking instead of mowing. I am impressed.
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling the mower wasn't going to start! How fun! I read somewhere that the Roomba people have a mower about to come out. Can you imagine sitting back and sipping an Arnold Palmer while you watch your lawn getting Roomba-ed?
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of things they don't make for short people! I hope your arm is feeling better.
