Such a good boy

Last evening I went to a scholarship presentation. My nephew, Michael, received the top prize sponsored by all the PTA's in the city where he goes to high school. He got $1,000.00. Check out those snappy red shoes and that colorful shirt! Afterwards I took him, his mom and dad - my brother and my SIL - out for ice cream to celebrate.

He is getting another one on Monday, but he doesn't know for how much it will be.

Before I went to the presentation, I worked on putting together how to make funky triangles for one of my readers, Marly. Here are the finished pieces that I will end up putting together a baby quilt.

I will also show you a quilt I made back in 2000 for Mrs. Miller. I wanted to show her how much I appreciated that she let me work twice a year at their special sales. I remember that first I asked her for her opinion about this quilt. "Mrs. Miller, what do you think about this quilt?" She looked at it and liked the way I used the batiks. Then I told her to look at the label. She read it and said "No!" meaning this is not really for me is it? I said yes it was for her and she was thrilled. She said no one had ever made her a quilt. Maybe that was because she made quilts. As far as I know one of her daughters has the quilt as Mrs. Miller died at least 10 years ago. I only had a film camera at the time, so this morning I took a picture of the pictures I had of the quilt.
