TGIF

I was able to get a bunch of strips cut out a few day ago so I now have about 9 baby quilt tops to sew together. I would love to get as many as possible done this weekend. I have no other plans for the weekend except to get the stickers for my car. Have a great weekend!

Getting ready for my exhibit

I am now in the process of getting my art quilts ready to exhibit at the local library branch. I will be doing the installation over Thanksgiving and the Meet the Artist reception will be Dec. 11. I have this piece that needs its binding. I spent way too much time last night looking for the binding which I already had cut, but I could not find it. I have more of my hand dyed fabric so I will just cut more strips for the binding. I just know as soon as I do that I will find the other strips!

So far there are two items written on my hand - rain pants and e-check. I have a pair of rain pants of my son's that needs repaired. He is going to a football game at South Bend so he may need them. I will be giving him a call today, probably be fixing them tonight, and delivering them to him tomorrow. I need to get the car e-checked (don't even get me started at what a waste this is!!!) so I can get my new sticker for my car.

I am sure something else will pop into my head and I will put it on the list.

Art Museum again

Last night was a silent auction and wine tasting at the Akron Art Museum. I would guess over 200 people attended and there were at least that many wines. I helped with checking the guests in. It was a rainy night, but the turn out was very good.

Tonight I am staying home! Gosh, I have dishes to do, laundry, and of course sewing! Right now it seems everything is coming at once. Usually I don't have that much going on. There is something on my calendar for Thursday (I am now scratching my head - mmm?) so I had better go look and see what I got myself into next!

Found the camera cord so here we go! Parties, my list and quilts!

I was reading artsyville's blog last week and she was talking about a Tuesday list to post. I said I could do that! Here is my list for Tuesday. Yes, I write on my hand so I won't lose my list, because I am not planning on losing my hand. I end up losing paper lists. I have been doing this for years. So far I have three things done!

On Saturday morning I drove and hour to New Philadelphia, Ohio to The Material Girl store. They were having an end of the bolt sale. The sale started on Friday and the end of the bolts were pretty much picked over. I did get this beautiful floral and a couple of Jan Sassman prints at a really great price.

So then I went to the Tractor Supply store on my way out of town and I finally found some Orvis - a big old tub of it! It was $30.00, but it will last me forever! I think it weighed 7.5#.

Saturday night I got to attend a fundraiser that my nephew played at. Here he is before playing discussing things with his Mom and Dad. His Dad is my brother. Michael did a wonderful job and the crowd truly appreciated his efforts. Michael also played two songs with the next group that perform which was Ohio. Ohio did a great job of entertaining the crowd too. They must have played for at least 2 hours. It was a great party and I was lucky to be able to attend.

This is patio that had the new fireplace, sitting walls, and a bar-b-que. I forgot to take picture when I first arrived when it was still light outside. The landscaping was beautiful.

Here is the other side of the garage. There is a kitchen area inside the garage that the caterers used and all the food was set up inside.

This was the opening at the Art Museum's exhibit "Who Shot Rock n' Roll" on Friday night. I sold drink tickets and got just a peak at the show. I had a lot of fun.

Well, here are the quilts. If you see something you are interested in let me know at paltier at rpj-aps dot com. The shipping will be either $10.70 or $14.50 USPS piority shipping box - which ever the quilt(s) will fit into. We can work that out when we get to that point. Continental US only.

Embroidered pale blue quilt 57" x57" machine pieced and hand quilted. some wear on the binding.

bow tie quarter quilt. 35" x40". The border is damaged, there are a few stains, and several of the bows have worn thru, but I had to save this. I remember seeing this at an auction and I just knew it would get thrown in the trash. It is hand pieced and hand quilted.

Star 9 patch - 63" x 63". the blocks are hand pieced except for the extra strips taht were added to three blocks to make them bigger. The sashing and borders are machine sewn. It is hand quilted. There are a couple of small brown spots and the polka dotted fabric in the sashing is also on the back. The green fabric is showing some fading also.

Faded yellow embroidered quilt - 68" x 87". This poor quilt has been well loved by someone. It was hard to photograph because it is so faded. The embroidery is pretty - baskets and flowers - but it is very pale. There are a few holes and the binding is very warn. I have no idea where I got this quilt.

Dresden plate - now this quilt is beyond rough condition. The yellow background fabric is a disaster! 75" X 81". When I was taking pictures of it, it dawned on me that the dresden plates, which are hand pieced and appliqued and in good condition, could be removed and appliqued on a new background. The fabrics in the plates are feedsack prints.

I made this pinwheel quilt sometime in the late 80's early 90's. 35" x 50". The batting is polyester. It is machine pieced and hand quilted.

Double pink irish chain 63" X 83". the blocks were hand pieced and the borders were machine pieced. Hand quilted. Binding has heavy wear. It does have a couple of spots on it, but considering how this looked when it came into my life it is in pretty good shape. For some rease I really love this quilt and it's another one that is going to be hard to let go of.

Red star - 72" x 88". Overall in good condition except for on hole in the top only. See the picture below. The binding is very narrow and somewhat worn. It is machine pieced and hand quilted.

Red and blue 9 patch on point. 74" x77" It is in very good condition - no holes! I covered the original binding years ago because it was in real bad shape, but the binding I put on can be removed to show the original. This one is going to be hard to let go of. I forgot to write down if the blocks were hand or machined pieced, but it is hand quilted.

No pictures

I am sorry. I left the camera cable at home so I cannot post pictures of the parties I attended this weekend or the quilts for sale. I was interesting as I was taking pictures of the quilts - I had a couple that I had forgotten about and there are a couple that it is really going to hurt to part with them. I will get my act together and post them tomorrow.

Yesterday's trip

This is a piece of fabric sent to me with the check for her purchase from one of my blogging friends. I had made a comment on her blog of how I loved this fabric months ago and she remember so she sent me a fat eight of it. How sweet is the Exuberant Color! Thank you Wanda!

I got to the dentist ok, but they drive me crazy because they are so slow. Everyone there is so nice and they all want to visit. I just want to get the heck out of there. I hate to have my teeth cleaned! I wanted to get back on the interstate before rush hour and I managed to get to the hospital in record time. Here are the girls:

Here is Claire - all 5 pounds 1 oz.

Here is Sophia - all 4 pounds 12 oz of her.

Sophia said "Go away and leave me alone pattynubs!"

They are both doing well and may get discharged Tuesday. Mom and a nurse were feeding them and I wanted to stay longer and watch, but I needed to get to my brother house to watch his kids so it was back to the interstate. On the four lane street right before I turn on to the on-ramp, we were all stopped at a red light. The lane I was in started to move, but for some reason a van in the next lane didn't but the three cars behind him did. POW! a three car fender bender. Onward I go busting tail, because I am running late!

At the dinner my brother and sister-in-law went to they serve a lot of food. One of the people in the group didn't like chicken and my s-i-l didn't want her chicken so my brother brought me the leftovers. Here is one box with a half a chicken, 1 1/2 sweet potatoes and some corn bread. This is my lunch today. I have another half a chicken in the fridge at home. I had to weight the box becasue I could not believe how heavy it was. It weighs 2.2 pounds. That's more than enough for two meals! So with the other chicken in the fridge, it looks like I will no have to cook this weekend!

I got home at 10 till eleven so no new pictures of the quilts to sell happened. I will post Monday with what remaining quilts I have. Tonight I am volunteering at the art museum. They have a new photography exhibit with various photographers of pictures of rock and roll stars. I will try and get some photos. Saturday my nephew is playing a a private fund raiser and I was invited by them to attend for free! It is being held a a mansion with a full blow out decked out backyard. I will definitely be taking my camera. There will be lots of food and drink and another band playing besides my nephew. Sunday I am chillin'. Have a great weekend!

Quilts for sale

I only had time to take pictures of two quilts for sale. Today I am headed to the dentist (an hour away from where I live), I will stop at the hospital to see the girls on the way back (the hospital is half way between the dentist and home), and then I am headed to my brother's house - he lives in the same city I do - to watch his two boys while he and his wife go to a dinner party. I need to squeeze in a trip to the post office to mail a couple of African and feedsack fabric orders. Crazy!

Make sure you look at all the pictures because they do have condition issues and I want to be very up front with that. Any offers will be considered and I can get you a cost for the shipping. I will only charge exactly what the shipping costs. Continential US only. If I don't sell them off my blog they are going on ebay along with the books, feedsack fabric, and the leftover African fabric. It is great there are so many ways to turn your stuff into green!

This is a hand pieced and hand quilted feedsack quilt. The individual squares are quite small - 1" or less. It measures 49" wide and 61 1/2 to 58" long. Yes, it is a little wacky size wise, but then again it was hand done.

Here are the five small holes that are located in the border area.

A little discoloration.

This quilt is 42" x 54", machine quilted. It has a few issues - see the pictures below and is heavy for its size. I would be interesting to know what was used for batting. I am not expecting to get much for this - maybe a few bucks plus the shipping cost. I have no idea why I even bought it in the first place. I guess I liked the polka dotted fabric.

There is a dark spot and some staining. The staining does show on the green side - see next picture.

Here is what the spot looks like on the green side
